Keno was first played in two hundred before Christ by the Chinese military commander, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a way to finance his declining forces. The city of Cheung was at war, and after awhile of war time seemed to be facing national shortage of food with the drastic drop in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to come up with a quick response for the financial adversity and to acquire money for his army. He therefore invented the game we now know as keno and it was a wonderful success.

Keno once was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, because the winning numbers were sent out by pigeons from larger municipalities to the smaller villages. Keno grew in acceptance in the US near the close of the 1800’s when the Chinese characters were changed with , US numbers. Lotteries weren’t covered under the laws of gambling in the state of Nevada in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos altered the name of the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the concept that the numbers are horses and you are looking for your horses to come in. When a law passed that levied a tax on off track gambling, casinos swiftly changed the name to ‘Keno’.

It may not often be deemed the most fun game in the realm of gambling, but keno has huge amounts of dedicated enthusiasts. And so it should! It’s a consistently thrilling lotto-esque game that’s a breeze to play, readily available in loads of different variations, and one that can pay out millions for gamblers who master its many subtle rules. But let’s deal with the beginner’s rules here.

When defining keno to newcomers, some gaming connoisseurs compare it to lotto. This is at least in part apt, in that each game is basically numerical. Yet to take that comparison too far might be to underestimate the good many unique traits that make keno so exciting. Not like bingo, keno gamblers have the freedom to choose the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the gambler is furnished with an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to choose as numerous (or as few) numbers as he feels they need. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your selected numbers with a standardpen like you used when you were a kid.

Now that you’ve picked your numbers, carry your card back to the clerk at the keno stand. The keno pit manager will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) lucrative bit of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your loud shirt and would like to help out, without a winning receipt with you, you will get precisely $.00 for your efforts.

So, there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno receipt. Let’s get on to something a bit more useful, shall we?

Once you’ve checked off your numbers, get into a nice keno booth and see the action unfold on a video monitor. This is where the winning numbers show up for us. If you marked winners, mark your card aptly. Make sure not to dally, or sit there praising yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You need to get up to the keno booth to get your winnings, since a new drawing will most likely start within a few minutes.

Strategy number two: always be sure to get back to the keno booth on time!

Since you can not trust yourself to meet that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from two to 20 tickets. When the maximum amount of games (fitting the number of tickets) is finished, you may then get off your lazy rump and go get your winnings.

Still another option is referred to as a "stray and play" keno card, which generally allows you make number selection for thirty games or more. Hell, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to fret about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after purchase!

And now you know a handful of needed techniques for winning keno. If you are a skillful player, they might seem to be incredibly obvious. However, it will not hurt to study up on the basic strategies, and if you are a beginner user, every little bit of information will help make your keno games more agreeable.
